These are just a few of the many links that I have. I'm just getting started, of course, and will try to organize these a little more as I go.

My Blog Rules...

I realize that so far I am the only person posting, but on the chance that more people do get involved I do have a few rules I'd appreciate everyone goes by.

  1. More than likely, we're all adults here so I'd appreciate everyone acts like one... lol I've seen flame wars, spam, VERY inappropriate links and so much more on many of my mailing lists. I have never had a problem with others stating their opinions and won't start now. I feel that you should all be confident in saying what you will, but I will not hesitate to delete anything I feel is not appropriate as I've noted above. I'm not a "topic witch" but like so many of the lists I read through it's a real pain to read through a genealogy mailing or site, whatever, and have to deal with links to porn, bill consolidation, and other various garbage that has NOTHING to do with what I'm trying to read.... Ok, I feel better now... :-)
  2. I do believe I've already mentioned about keeping information on the living private. Unless you are the living person being mentioned and don't mind your info being online than go right ahead... Just show respect to privacy of the living and remember, do unto others... You understand.. :-)
  3. My last main rule... I, of course, need to follow this also. Since I was very new to the whole "genealogy" thing when I started my research almost 5 years ago, I did not keep track of where I got most of my information (a.k.a. sources). I am regretting it now though. Since my family file has about 1300 names in it and very few sources.. With all the information I've found being online, it would take me forever to track down all the websites I found it on. PLEASE, try and mention the source for any info you may add on here.. Whether it be a website, document or another person, please, PLEASE note where you found the information with as much detail as possible. If you got the info from another researcher, let us know their name and how to contact them, if possible. If they don't mind being posted online then add them right into the message. At the very least, note that you may be contacted for an email address or snail mail address if necessary.

Coming Soon.....

I didn't even realize how long it's been since I added anything to this. I do have a lot more to add and am just trying to organize my thoughts before I get started.. I may get some of it done tonight, but it may be in the next few days. Anyway, here's a short list of things I'll be adding..

To start off I seem to have collected a tremendous list of genealogy links that I lose track of so i'm going to attempt to start catagorizing them and adding them on here. In addition to general sites I'm also going to include a list of different yahoo groups and rootsweb mailing lists.

  • Country
  • State
  • County
  • Surnames
  • General
  • Databases/Search Sites
  • Yahoo Groups
  • Rootsweb Mailing Lists
  • Message Boards

***Just for the record, this post is more for my thought organizing than anything else. lol ***

The next thing I'm going to try to post is some of my different family trees. I'm attempting to keep any information on the living as private as possible. I think that should be rule # 1 for ALL genealogists. I know I would not want to come across information on myself being posted for any and all to see and use. A roll call would be a nice addition, I think. It may help for people just happening across this blog to identify potential family connections. In fact, I may manage to get that done tonight.. Hopefully.. LOL

I do hope I can get as many family members as possible to get involved in this. I feel that the more people I can get onboard, the more progress we can make..... Please feel free to jump right in and add your thoughts at any time, day or night... :-D
